WCAG 2.2

« Back to Glossary Index

WCAG 2.2 is a set of guidelines that help make websites usable for people with disabilities — so everyone can navigate, read, and interact online.

It stands for Web Content Accessibility Guidelines, and version 2.2 adds new recommendations for things like easier touch targets, clearer focus indicators, and better support for cognitive disabilities. These are standards made by the W3C, not laws — but they’re often used to meet legal requirements, especially for government or public-facing websites.

Imagine trying to use a site with poor vision, motor challenges, or attention differences. If a button’s too small, or text is low contrast, or navigation’s confusing — the web becomes a wall. WCAG 2.2 is about removing those walls.
