No-code is a way to build websites, apps, forms, and automations using visual builders and pre-made blocks — without writing programming code yourself.
It’s the sibling of low-code: low-code still allows (or needs) some custom code; no-code aims for drag-and-drop only. Tools like Webflow, Glide, Zapier, and Make let non-developers ship an MVP, connect a CRM, or automate email. Speed and accessibility are the upside; platform limits, lock-in, and security tradeoffs are the downside.
A real-life example of no-code
A shop owner connects “new Stripe payment → update Google Sheet → Slack alert” in a visual workflow builder. No developer. That’s no-code automation. When they later need a custom checkout rule or regulated data handling, they may hit a wall — and need traditional development or a hybrid.
Start with no-code when the problem is simple; plan an exit if the business outgrows the platform. See Why You Shouldn’t Build Your Entire Business on Low-Code Tools and What Are Low-Code Tools?.
